CKD (Completely Knocked - Down) HIFI speakers are sent with all of the parts separated, fully packaged as individually shipped pieces. This form works well for people trying to reduce shipping costs because it is cheaper to transport parts that are not pre-assembled. CKD HIFI speakers need to be assembled at the destination, which can be done by a local partner of the manufacturer or by technically skilled end-users. Assembly is done by combining parts such as drivers, cabinets, wiring and other components in a step by step manner using guides, which is often complex. In spite the complexity of the assembly, CKD HIFI speakers provide the benefit of customizing them during assembly which enables changes to be made to suit the local market, reduce costs through local procurement of some parts, or pay lower import duties in some regions.
